Gewürztraminer | Aromatic & charming

At first sip, this sumptuous Gewürztraminer delights with aromas of lychee, ginger and guava. Flavors of pineapple, grapefruit and peach leap from the glass. Light bodied with crisp acidity, it is balanced by the perfect amount of sweetness and a bright tropical fruit finish.

In the Winery

Once our sustainably grown grapes are harvested, we press the juice for cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks. While there are instances where you want oak on your white wine, this is not one of those times. Riesling and Gewürztraminer are beautifully light, fragrant and aromatic varietals. With these wines you want to keep things clean and crisp to showcase the natural fruit qualities in the grapes. We keep the juice at about 50° F in stainless steel tanks from start to finish to maintain the wonderful aromatics and bright flavors that make these wines so delectable.

The Crafters

When it comes to passion, our team has it in spades. We love our vineyards. We love making wine. We love sharing that wine with all of you. There is no greater feeling than creating something with your own hands that you’re proud of and can share with others. And it is all the reward we need.

Our superbly talented team of winemakers is dedicated to crafting beautiful and delicious wines. This may seem like we’re bragging, but that’s because if we didn’t, they would give all the credit to the grapes and vineyard. Each wine tells the story of a vintage – of the sun and the soil and the rainfall and the wind. Our winemakers are simply the storytellers.

Social Responsibility

We believe that being socially and environmentally responsible is a joy! We are lucky to have some of the very best jobs in the world and pay it forward by farming sustainably and caring for our employees. Every year we go through a rigorous auditing process to renew our sustainability certification. Both in the vineyards and in the winery we look for ways to cut waste and promote social equity.

In the vineyard we have built and installed more than 250 owl boxes to promote a sustainable ecosystem that supports biodiversity. Each year we plant a variety of cover crops between our vineyard rows to prevent erosion, improve soil health, and support beneficial insects such as bees, lacewings and ladybugs. In the winery, we recycle 100% of winery water and reuse it on our vineyards and we compost 100% of the grape pomace, stems and seeds and spread it back into our vineyards.

Estate Vines

Life is sweet in Monterey and we’re blessed to live and work here. The picture-perfect climate of Monterey, California is heaven on earth for our vibrant Riesling and Gewürztraminer vines, and the astounding beauty and pace of life around Monterey Bay is perfect for our families. Hive & Honey wines are grown on our estate vineyards and pressed and bottled in our estate winery, which means we are responsible for everything. But we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The unique weather patterns of Monterey keep us on our toes but also ensure the perfect balance of lively acidity and delicious fruit flavor in our wines. Each morning chilly marine air sweeps off the Pacific Ocean and drifts down the Salinas Valley, keeping our vineyards cool until midday when the bright California sun shines through followed by afternoon winds. The combination of fog, sunshine and wind slows the maturation of our grapes and gives them more hang time on the vine which in turn means better flavors.
